2022 saw the establishment of the General Kuklinski Institute in the United States, furthering the mission begun in 2004 with the passing of General Ryszard Kuklinski, when the decision was made to create the General Kuklinski Memorial Chamber, commemorating his intelligence service and highlighting his contribution to the fight against communism. The General Kuklinski Memorial Chamber was established in Warsaw in 2006 and for 17 years has been dedicated to raising historical awareness of the Cold War and General Ryszard Kuklinski himself. The General Kuklinski Institute in the United States will further its work. The Institute will focus on educating adults and young people about the Cold War and cultivating the memory of Poland’s historical roots. The General Kuklinski Institute in the United States will enable the Polish diaspora to gain a better understanding of the history of their homeland, while those with no previous ties to Poland will learn more about the role of Poland and Poles in the overthrow of communism. The General Kuklinski Institute in the United States will also conduct research on the influence of General Ryszard Kuklinski on American politics and Polish-American affairs.
